After sleep, Rekka didn't want to bother with Isaac. Her anger was not settled but there would be time for that later. Ajara, Jessica, Unicatboy and herself returned to the town, in hope of helping with the clearing and the beginning of the building. Isaac, Cortanna, Gideon, stay behind to go into the ruin after the hides man in hope the he is still alive. Turning back into dragon, they arrived outside of town. Both Ajara and Rekka turned into things, Rekka herself, and Ajara a brown haired Elf. Rekka hide herself with the cloak and followed behind Ajara. Ajara went to the remains of the exchange shop in hope of getting her money. but the ruin was more that what even she thought it was.
Rekka left Ajara and went in search of her things, putting on her goggles she searched through the piles of rubble. she piled her belongs (or what she believed to be hers). A couple of blankets, some mess kits, barrels and sacks that survived. Then there it was, the one item she really hope to find. Her magical Tent, some how it survived, and still in good working condition. It took some time but she found about what seem like half of what was originally here. Using one of the barrels Rekka placed on non magical items into it, she put her tent into her sack.
Then looking around she saw the business of the town as they began to move away rubble, and search for those who might be trap under destroyed building. Wanting to do her part, Rekka offered her Tent. Also with the help of the goggles, Rekka joined in the search team. Ajara went to the black smith and came by with a a string instrument that looked like a small harp and asked Jessica to play it. As she played it seems as through there was more people that before and building that were in the early stages were quickly being rebuilt. It was a strange thing to behold if anyone was watching that was. Everyone was working hard to rebuilding their town. Sleeping for her two hours, Rekka went back to work, doing what she could.
After all the bodies were found, about 1/6 of the population didn't make it through. The bodies were buried, and mourning came over those who lost loved ones. Rekka didn't feel comfortable about it being around these people. The feeling that her life was cursed was a little too real at the moment. Rekka turned to the tree that she buried her hair and only to find that it was gone. "figures" she thought. once again she feels her resolve waning. She had no idea what she should do, let alone anyone else. Wondering around while the funerals were going on, Rekka came upon Ajara.
"So Ajara...With all that is going on what do you think the other deities are doing?" Rekka asked
Araja looks at you kinda a funny. She never took much thought to other deities, let alone with how burnt she felt over hers, she kinda could care less. "Hmmm, I can't say. Barrok didn't seem to show a preference as to what was happening which makes me wonder if what they are doing is actually harmless and not evil. Then again, I never thought to ask him either if he liked what was happening. If the other deities were against, maybe they'd be the ones to intervene... or they're all for what 'they' are doing. Hard to say really, that is a interesting thought though. You have any ideas?"
"Not Really. It just that from what I was told the Deities were in danger. it seems more so what a recent event. It's hard to explain..." Rekka mulls it over how to tell Ajara without saying too anything about Briar. "The reason i was gone that one day was because Isaac and myself had to track down information about an Devil? Demon? Isaac knew more about it. He wasn't exactly in town at least not in
person, but he was....communicating with someone. I happened to over see
and hear it. Turns out he was trying to get the group to bring me to the catacombs under the city at Lupiks. Something about my blood, again blood, to help him usurping the deities.
"Wow. There was a devil? I'm assuming in town hence your absence for the night? and that's a scary notion if the Deities are in danger... what is going on? What are we poor mortals to do about it? This is proving to be quite the puzzle to figure out if I do say so myself. It just seems like we've been thrown into the midst of this... trouble the gods have created and some how we've got to fix it? It's frustrating to even try to fix this yet if we don't try, who will? Grant it, I'm just venting Rekka. It does seem like a lot if asked of us don't you think?"
She was better a bit better that someone else was in the same position as she was. "What I can't wrap my head around is that the deities are doing. just sitting back and making us do this? I wonder if there are other groups...like other chosen
that are going around being told similar stories...and it all some big, I
don't know, Conspiracy."
"No kidding. It's like we've been picked as champions to fight in a gladiator like game. I suppose us going away from Lupik to see what else is going on in the world and how what's going on with the Deities and Lupik might be impacting them... if it is. And if there are others like us, are they being fed the same story? I wish we could get some straight answers because right now I feel maybe we're getting worked up over nothing. What if this is all harmless. What if those we've gotten answers from are biased? I suppose the only way to get anything concrete would be from the source of this current struggle in the heavens. Well, glad you're okay. Hope that someone conspiring against you was sucked into that temple and killed if you and Isaac didn't take care of the guy yourself."
"Well the devil demon no so much, but the conspirator was very much taken care of. we both saw to that." A dark shadow pass over Rekka's face and she could help but look down at her hands. It was her that in the end killed the Briar. She wasn't so sure that was the right thing to do but there was little other choice she guess. the minute Briar ran her fate was sealed.
"I'm sure we'll get the Devil later on. Him and Brier. Sure gonna beat the crap out of her once I get my hands on her. Anywho, sure sucks that we seal the temple only for this town to get nearly sucked away. Just seems unfair that everything we try to help with goes terribly awry."
It was the one thing Rekka didn't want to talk about. Knot in her stomach that she didn't realized was there, worsen a little. She finally gave voiced to something that's been on her mind. "Yes I'm a little afraid of that part. Next thing you know we'll be fighting paladins, with orders to capture us by the king. or worst bounty hunters."
Araja lets that sinks in and a sigh of exasperation escapes her mouth, "Oh my... THAT would be terrible! We need some tangible proof then... something to prove our cause. I wouldn't want to use your eyes just in case we come across some uninformed fool, like I was, assuming you're evil. Maybe I should collect some of the river water here. I know Isaac doesn't trust it, but I plan on experimenting with it. Maybe that'll be our only saving grace, becoming undetectable at the expense of loosing some of our abilities."
After week and half of work, the others finally showed up. Rekka looked at them and saw the worry on their faces. The Hideman went quickly to the remains of his shop, his assiant went quickly towards where house were. Cortanna left without saying a word and headed for the black smiths. Issac returned with the others who scattered very quickly. Rekka had a sinking feeling.
"from what we saw, the dwarf ruin is breaking up. the volcano that it's built into is starting to become more active. Turns out that the temple that we just destoried was getting it's power from the volcano."
Issac said quietly, so no to be over heard.
Rekka just starred at him dumbfounded. they just went almost two weeks getting people back on their feet only to send this upon them. Isaac took it upon himself to tell the druid who took it as well as anyone would. which was not well at all. He left Isaac and went Burne and Rufus. they took it just as well as the Druid. Isaac suggested that the group leave the town. Rekka looked to her tent but knew that there was still many sick and wounded. Sighing she gave the tent to the town. she only sleeps two hours anyway. gathering what they needed, Isaac put on a pair of gloves and commanded the group to grab a hold. The world melt away....
