Sangrail’s sacrifice

Barrok looked at Isaac, the shadow still connected to him. “let’s take care of that.” He took a pair of tongs  and pulled out a searing hot piece of steel and placed it against Ram Isaac’s hoofs. Disconnecting the shadow, who fled to a corner of the blacksmith’s shop, and then through some trick turned Isaac back to normal. All at once everyone began to ask Isaac question but Barrok said, “You stand upon the well of evil and you decide to have a discussion on trivial matters?” With that it brought everyone back to the seriousness of their situation. It must have been from the relief of seeing Barrok, and the safety of his shop. He looked at Ajara, “You still have the dagger?” ajara pulled if off her wand bracelet. “Good.”  Barrok was very serious as he spoke.
He told the group that the Deities were not meant to last forever and that is why the sangrail’s were created. But the deities raged war against them killing them all, then gain power Erythnul and Heironious agreed to work together. They created portals from their realms onto the material plane. Erythnul had agreed to let Hieronous’s portals exist put Erythnul sealed them; allowing only his portals of evil to effect the material plane. This was what was holding the souls of the mark from moving on.  From what Barrok knows there are three portals, this no being the largest.  This portal allowed Erythnul to hide his deed from the world, and transform this land.  Barrok asked the group to destroy the portals and allow the material plane to return to a state of balance. It was also because of these portals that the sangrails haven’t been able to return.  A Sangrail was a being that was born with the power of a deity but unlike normal deities, they didn’t need followers to exist; although having followers would help strength them.
The only way to destroy the portals was to open them with the dagger and offer up either a deity’s blood or blood of a creature of naturally aligned opposite of the portals alignment.  Since he Barrok was such a deity he was willing to help the group. After all he was a Sangrail. The group looked from him to Rekka.
“then when you called him father?”
Rekka had done so, but to keep others, at the time, from understanding who they were talking about. Barrok shook his head. “You don’t need parents that are Sangrail to be born as one.”
“then Rekka could..”
“No. She is not a deity.”
“But you said…”
“She has yet to realize. She will need to do so soon, before Erythnul and Heironious get to her.”
“Doesn’t that make her natural good aligned” Cortanna asked.
Rekka and Barrok both shook their heads. REkka know her nature well, is wasn’t good, nor was it bad. But when Barrok agreed with her she got the impression that he knew her nature. The only two that could do this was Raaein and Barrok. But the size of this portal would most likely kill Raaein.  Taking most of his blood if not all. Barrok believed he would survive but he would become weaken by it. If certain events, since time was of little matter to a deity, happened then he would be waiting for them when they reached the next portal.  But if the events didn’t happen, or if Erythnul or Heironious got to him then he wouldn’t be waiting.
This alone caused Rekka fear. She finally had met someone like herself, a sangrail and now a chance of fate could take him from her. Rekka wanted to beg him to tell her everything. What did she need to realize? How was she supposed to do it? What was she missing? But the seriousness of the room held her tongue. She had a feeling he wouldn’t tell her anyway. Cortanna called Barrok, Bear-rock. He turned on her, and told her his name was Bar-Rok, similar to the Barracks which were named after him, since he was about comfort, travel and blacksmith.  Rekka felt like he gave her a clue.
With the tortures decision it was decided that they would take Barrok on his offer. Heading back outside, he had Ajara bring out the dagger. It was a dagger that one side was made of light material but the other side was dark. He instructed her to stab the ground. She did so and it opened up creating a small rift. Ajara reached for  his arm but he told her that it had to be a stabbing wound where she could keep the dagger in, otherwise it the wound would just heal itself.
Ajara grew pale as he ripped his shirt just above where his heart would be. Ajara’s face looked like that when she appeared to them in the forest. REkka stepped forward about to say she’ll do it, when Ajara, tears filled eyes, stabbed him.  Blood began to flow forth and flowed into the rift. It began to widen and the black water began to rush over the island. It was the temple of elemental evil all over again. They need to run! But she didn’t want to leave Barrok. The water rose faster as the rift grew bigger. Everyone was able to drive away in time as the rift open beneath them.
“We have to get out of here, Raeein?”
“it’s not working.” He called, “either some power is keeping us here or this is no longer my forest.”
Ajara kept the dagger in place as Barrok bleed.
“I’m not leaving him.” She said.
“Neither am I.” Cortanna said.
Of course Rekka didn’t want ot leave him but he wouldn’t want them all to die. Using her circlet Rekka turned herself into a sliver dragon once more. She waited, she would make sure that they would be able to escape last minute. Barrok gave Ajara the signal to remove the dagger, he healed and disappeared.
“GET ON!” Rekka roared, as the water was almost upon them. Everyone scrambled aboard and Rekka took off, the black water barely missing her claws.  As they flew overhead, they watched the island as it was engulfed by the black water. The shore of the surrounding area became land; even the trees changed and disappeared.  Ruins of buildings began to spring forth from the forest. The black water was sucked into the rift, being replaced by normal land, and then it was gone.
The ruins of Ajara’s home town were now visible underneath them. The magical powers that held this place was gone. It was turning back to the way it was before the portal was opened. The shadow somehow had managed to escape with them. Isaac told it that there was a way for them to be able to escape and find rest. He then released the shadow. It said good bye to Ajara before disappearing back into the forest.
Rekka force her mind to remain clear and her eyes searching for a place to land. She had to find safety before she allows herself to fall apart. The others were counting on her right now, not to fall out of the sky.
