what she wasn't meant to see

Day three

Rekka heads out to magic shop. She finds Burne outside the tower with Rufus, apparently arguing. In front of them are a number of young chicks and a hen, most of the chicks are made of stone.  Rekka walked away but after only a few steps she sighs and turns back. She really wanted to check out the shop. She walks up to them and ask, "Problem?"

Rufus turns to Rekka when she speak, concern in his eyes. "Stay back," he says warningly, "We've already had half our workers turned to stone by these things." Burne isn't paying attention. He's staring at the little chicks with something akin to motherly affection. The chicks that had been turned to stone slowly fad back into living chicks. One of the stone-to-flesh chicks jumped and a burst of energy shot out of its eyes, striking another chick and turning it to stone. Burne claps excitedly. "His pet chicken's found a way to breed without a rooster, and now we've got a bunch of little Henny's running around turning everything to stone. Heaven help us if they also lay the same kind of eggs."

Rekka: I don't know what I can do about the chickens, but I can help with the people if you need it. but I must ask that you do not watch.

Rufus shrugs and points off toward the workers tents. you can see several statues over there.

Rekka walks over making sure not to look at the chicks. (since she has her haversack with her, she needs it for the items she plans on getting.) pulls out the Stone to Flesh flower and starts working on the people. "Hope this works."

In just a few minutes you've accomplished the task of restoring the petrified people to life. Most are quite a bit dissoriented, others were caught mid-jump. You notice the flower is beginning to wilt in the sunlight.

She put it quickly back into the bag. Goes back to the Rufus. "Could I see your wears?"

Both are in awe of your flower (they watched, even though you said not to). "Where did you find that flower?" Burne asks.

“In the mountains. But I didn't find it; someone else did and asked me to hold on to for them.”

“Could we, perhaps, buy it off of you?”

Rekka looks around at the people that were turned stone and sighed. "I have a strong feeling you two are going to need it more than me."

Burne is quite excited. "I've only heard tales of the mountain Stone to Flesh flowers. Perhaps this will hold the key to reversing what happened to Henny!" Rufus only sighs. "We would be willing to pay you...15000 gp for this flower. Or an equivalent amount in wears from my or Burne's persona stores."

Rekka Nod, "agreed." and holds out her hand to shake on the deal.

Rufus shakes, you feel a warmth and hear a click of metal on metal as your hands meet. He looks at you in slight shock. Burne notices too, then raises an eyebrow and chuckles. "It's our honor to meet you, and now it makes more sense what you said, about not being the one who found the flower in the mountains."
"How long have you been a member?" they ask, leading you inside their tower for a more private place to chat.

“Believe it or not, it's only been a few weeks.” She said, following them.

They nod and lead you into their study. "We've actually given up our adventuring days, and tend not to make much use of our coins these days. But still, we're more than happy to offer you any aid you may stand in need of...or at least, any aid that's within reason." "so which would you prefer? Gold, or items?”

“Do you happen to have Circlets of Disguise?” she asked.

They snigger. "Do we have a basic circlet of disguise? Yes. But we can do better than that. Burne calls Henny to him (clucking, etc.). Henny arrives and Burne clucks some more. Henny lays an egg and flaps off again. Burne takes the egg and, using a fine needle, pokes a small hole in it. From the hole, a pocket dimension blossoms, showing a vast store room of goods. He steps in, withdraws a circlet, and comes back out. The pocket dimension stays open for only a few minutes before vanishing. "This is a circlet of Polymorph. Illusions can be seen through, but this will actually change you into whatever you imagine....within reason. You can't grow or shrink yourself too much (you can go 1 size category up or down), and it's good for up to three uses per day. Each Polymorph will last until you choose to polymorph into something else, even if you remove the circlet. Just watch out for magic detectors and magic dispellers, since those can expose you for what you really are." Rufus grins, "The best part of this little circlet, though, is that you can use it to polymorph someone else. Once a week, you can touch someone and turn them into anything you like, within reason. Burne's personal favorite is to turn people into sheep or some other dumb beast. It makes some fights a lot easier when you don't have to worry about their wizard, or their fighter, depending on your own situation."

"Very True" Rekka said. Chucking, some thought on how to use were coming to mind. Rekka accepts it the circlet.

They tell Rekka to come by any time, and they'll always be more than happy to provide her (and her friends) with a place to stay and food to eat. Free of charge. Though, currently, with their tower being worked on, the inn would probably be more comfortable for now.

Rekka thanks them. But wish to buy the circlet of disguise, since it is to pay someone back. She pays 15,000gp for it and thanking them again, leaves.

Rekka goes to the stable and looks to find Brier.

Rekka upon entering the stables and see Briar in one of the stalls. about to step forward, Rekka happened to look into the water trough. The surface of the trough seemed strange. She saw what looks like a devil or a demon (she couldn't tell the difference). The devil/demon was speaking and Briar occasionally makes neigh-ing sounds.  Listening in, Rekka heard her name mentioned. Slipping closer, she can hear more clearly but it’s in a language she can’t understand. Rekka does a quick look over of the demon and sneaks out. Getting a good distance, she wonders where that unicorn was, since she didn’t see him. Rekka heads for the inn but finding it almost deserted she looks around for any member of the group. Taking off the blindfold so she could see better, there some distance off  in a field was Isaac. It looks as though he’s trying on clothes? In broad daylight, no less.
Carefully making her way over to Isaac, she goes right up to him and revels herself.  She is looking a little pale as she recovering from a shock. Isaac looks at her somewhat surprised, a smoking crater that is filled with dust and surrounded by jagged shards of rocks can be seen nearby" Wow, umm. How did you even find me? Never mind that for now I guess, what is wrong?"

“There was a demon or was it a devil I couldn't tell. it was talking with Brier about something in a language I didn't know. It said my name. It had Redish skin, wrinkles, scars...horns...um...angry expression...ugly...female?...maybe male...It's at the stable like right now. It didn't notice me, I hope, because of the cloak."

Isaac's face turns dark and ugly. “I speak some infernal. Come show me what you saw. I'll use Hubert to turn myself invisible and stay hidden.”
Rekka nods and leads you over to the stables. While going she tell Isaac a little more, the fact that she only saw it because of the water in the water trough.  As they get close Rekka will tells Isaac that she going to hide again and she disappears from his sight.
Isaac check the magic map before entering the stables, to see what names are in there.
